Day 16: Franklin, NC to Benham, KY

A truly magic day of riding in which we took zero pictures somehow…looking back out motorcycle photo skills have increased exponentially!
Key highlights from the day after leaving Franklin include NC-209 to Hot Springs and VA/KY-160 (Dragon Slayer), but the reality is the entire day was magic.
We stayed at the Benham Schoolhouse Inn - an old school converted into a hotel. A must visit place.
Memory: as we approached the technical bits of VA-160, there was a moss covered slim across the road. I was speeding (significantly) and the front it began to lose grip. Just as I thought it would pitch me over, it snapped back and regained traction. Close call.
Memory: I let Jonathan pass me - in my arrogance, I thought I would catch him quickly. I never did. I realized in that moment I had met my match and my son would quickly outpace my abilities in the twisties - he’s got a natural talent. I was not wrong - he did.
