Day 20: Trip’s End

June 16, 2024
Mileage: Unknown

After coffee at Red Rooster Coffee in Madison, IN, we meandered our way north on county roads. It was almost a challenge - can we get there without navigation. The routes are simple. Occasionally, we would encounter some gravel, but otherwise just nice, boring roads across Indiana farmland.

As we entered Waldron, IN, we found the local community having a fish fry after church at the Waldron Restaurant. What a cool experience! We talked to locals, ate buffet style food offerings, and enjoyed ourselves before the final little push back to Greenwood, IN.

I was coming home to the place I was raise, but it felt anything but it. Kentucky, that Airbnb, that felt like home to me. The place I started my own family, my own journey. This felt like something else.

As we entered my brother & sister-in-law’s farm, just like that, the trip was over - Appalachia Tour 2024.

This moto journal was done more than 1.5 years later. A lot of the photos were lost. A lot of the GPX files were lost. But the memories, the roads, the bikes - they are still present in my memory, and I will cherish them.

That trip, my son became a man. He started to give more than he took, and I admire the man he has become. Way better than I will ever be.
